EAGLE NEST, N.M. (AP) — The state Game and Fish Department says Eagle Nest Lake is closed to ice fishing and any other activities on the ice because warm weather is creating unsafe ice conditions.
The department said Thursday the ice is softening and starting to break apart although most of the lake continues to be covered with ice.
Fishing is permitted from the shoreline in areas with open water.
The lake in northern New Mexico also remains open for camping. For current fishing conditions, anglers can call the state park at 575-377-1594.
